Random Gossip:

David Cornock
I am great admirer of BBC Wales journalist David Cornock; he's a good writer, a skill I only wish I could learn. So why is his blog not on the BBC's official website? My sources tell me that there are only a limited number of blogs available for the 'regions' and Betsan Powys and Vaughan Roderick fill Wales's allocation. But isn't there another issue here? The BBC, I understand, have editorial guidelines, how is the BBC ensuring that a journalist with another blog is adhering to those guidelines? I understand that this issue has caused much consternation in BBC HQ, after all, if a complaint were made what would be the defence?

Rumours have reached me that a senior member of the Conservative staff in the National Assembly has been heard in public leaking confidential details about discussions at Conservative group meetings. That member of staff should be more careful about his use of words - such breaches of confidence could threaten their employment. And while a senior source briefed the Western Mail that Darren Millar is behind plots to oust Mr Bourne, the rumours are that Jonathan Morgan is encouraging these senior staff to stick the knife in...

MIke German to hang on?
It is widely rumoured that Mike German, current Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader, will announce that he plans to stay on as Leader until next summer instead of his original plans to leave by the end of the year at his party's special conference this weekend. Surely this can't be true? Is this a bizarre and ham-fisted attempt to give Jenny Randerson a better chance of beating Kirsty Williams?
