It was an interesting piece, however, it fails to mention the only reason Lewis is so anti-Welsh is that he cant be arsed to learn the language!
Welsh Labour knows full well it can only be electable if it elects a Welsh speaking Leader.
Another reason continually overlooked is any candidate will need the support of 6 Labour AM's to even get on the ballot paper. Lewis is nowhere getting 6 names to support him and he is unlikely to either.
He is viewed as a coward and traitor in Labour ranks because he gets other people do his treacherous dirty work for him.
Forget about Huw Lewis. Despite what fantasy power politics goes in his head from hsi ivory tower in Penarth, he does not command enough support amongst AM's.
Incidentally, someone told me he was spotted in Merthyr a few days ago on one his increasingly rare visits to the town. Perhaps he has bought a new SatNav?
MTOT, That's a bit harsh...isn't he widely expected to be able to find the 6 nominees?
Name them, list them and let's all have a laugh.....
Huw Lewis
Lynne Neagle
Lorraine Barrett
Irene James
Karen Sinclair
Ann Jones
Huw Lewis - obviously
Mrs Lewis - naturally
Lorraine Barrett - no way at all!
Irene James - yes
Karen Sinclair - yes
Ann Jones - yes
You are one short! Barrett will not back him - your political understanding of who's who in Welsh Labour, is way off-beam I am afraid.
This is hardly mass support nor is it enough to get on the ticket.
I told you Lewis is a joke - he is dependent on misfits, minnows and political nobodies.
This is not a Leadership challenge, its a farce!
The one handed typist returns! So Lewis is "nowhere getting 6 names to support him"? Assuming you mean he is "nowhere near" getting six names, why do you then go on to agree with lenin about 5 names? How much closer to 6 do you want to get?
What treacherous dirty work do his followers get up to anyway? I am intrigued. I believe you would classify me as being in the "Labour ranks", and I don't see Lewis as a coward or a traitor. I see him as a decent, if frustrated talented politician and someone the Cardiff Labour cabal has overlooked because he doesn't agree with them and they don't like that.
Of course he could have bitten his tongue and said what they wanted to hear to get a cabinet post, but that would have made him... (drum roll please)... a coward and a traitor.
Thanks for that Lynne!
Tell me - are you one of Huw's Merthyr constituents, or one of his Penarth variety?
He never comes near Merthyr, however, you can bet he'll be camped out here now there are job losses in the town with all these journalists around the place.
There is joke doing the rounds about Huw in pubs in the town. If you want to find out where Huw is, just look for the TV camera lights!
Crocodile tears from a crocodile anti-Welsh politician, I am afraid!
P.S. And still doesn't have enough names to get on the ticket!
Quite priceless, MTAT. But shouldn't you be tucked up in bed by 11.50? Hope you didn't miss school today.
