Labour AMs back Welsh independence

on Thursday, 20 November 2008

Vaughan Roderick informs us that a ComRes survey of Assembly Members has been published revealing that:

"The majority of Plaid Cymru [Assembly] members favour independence and there are a minority of Labour Assembly Members who share the same viewpoint."

This may suprise many, but it is well-known in political circles that a significant minority of Labour party members support independence for Wales.

Who are they? Huw Lewis and Rhodri Morgan again?

No wonder the One Wales government is going so well...

2 reasons for the results

1) Some Labour AMs see this as a desirable situation but don't see it as a serious possibility. Therefore, because of the venomous nature of any serious discussion on the topic (where Jingoistic British Nationalists hurl insults such as 'seperatist' 'terrorist' or 'traitor' from begining to end), would rather simply keep quiet about it and concentrate on ensuring that Wales has the tools to run itself properly first.

2) They're so inempt or drunk that they ticked the wrong box

Anyone care to mention the poll previously that showed Plaid supporters who dont actually support independence?
