Very insightful post from Betsan Powys today. It seems Labour are very keen on finding themselves a way of getting out of the coalition with Plaid, even to the extent that Rhodri Morgan is willing to offer PR in local government.
It's a good idea from their point of view. Many of them found the concessions to Plaid too difficult to deal with in the first place. Remember Kim Howells referring to the One Wales government giving Plaid more than they have achieved in "50 years"?
The Lib Dems, from Jenny Randerson's comments at least, seem keen on entering government. Plaid went gone into government to deliver a programme of policies, many of which are ideologically difficult for Labour to stomach. If Ieuan Wyn Jones can't deliver his red lines, then he can honorably walk away from government with his head held high, saying, quite rightly, that he tried his best for Wales.

Surely not? The Lib Dems are a bunch of pathetic losers!
I see the halfwit Peter Black is in a LOT of doo-doo over on that spineless Lib Dem supporter Pippa Wagstaff's blog.
Apparently, the Americans are NOT happy with Black at all over his remarks about John McCain. The numpty Black likened the Arizona Senator of “break-dancing” with his arms and making ‘unnatural body movements’ - physical impairments he had received when he was POW in Vietnam.
Black's outrageous comments have brough Welsh politics into disrepute and Black should hauled in front of the Standards Commissioner for dragging the Assembly into the gutter. I cannot believe people have not made a bigger fuss about this idiot's intemperate and prejudiced behaviour.
Given he is a Member of the Assembly Commission its a disgrace!
As an Assembly Commissioner, Peter Black is responsible for equality and the Assembly Commission has statutory duties to promote equality of opportunity. Also the Assembly Commission should:
* Always act in the best interests of the Assembly
* Maintain high standards and deliver what we say we will
* Are professional and innovative
* Treat everyone with respect
In the Lib Dem Manifesto in May 2007, Peter Black stood on this promise at that election: "Over the next decade we will work to the goal of providing free care for the elderly and disabled. We will immediately seek to improve the support available to disabled people."
According to the poster on Pippa's blog, Republicans and the media in Washington have picked up on this story.
Let's hope the pressure mounts on Peter Black and he is forced to make a statement in the Assembly clarfying his remarks and apologising to disabled people everywhere!
He apologised but its too late. If you ask me this is as bad as what Alun Cairns got chastised for!
Peter Black has another slight problem.
He supports the reading of so-called 'poetry' which tells of the f*cking of Jesus.
In an attempt to balance the level of offence I have offered to write him some verse telling of the f*cking of the Prophet Mohammed.
So far, I haven't had a response on his blog.
Could it be that he simply lacks the courage?
As I told him, this elephant in his room has a long memory and will, from time to time, repeat my offer.
The trouble with Peter Black is as Regional AM he has nothing to do - nothing to fill his vacuous day and his even more vacuous head. He is the world's only publicly paid professionally blogger.
The man has no shame at all.
When is the Assembly going to sort him out and claim its money back. He is the biggest waste of space in Welsh politics.
Posted to 'Miss Wagstaff Presents', but not yet cleared by Miss Wagstaff:
Peter, your argument that you didn't mean what you wrote or somehow didn’t make a connection between the senior Senator from Arizona injuries and his time spent as a POW doesn’t wash. What you wrote was disgusting and will be seen as such over on this side of the Atlantic absent a clear unambiguous excuse-free apology. As pointed out on “Welsh Ramblings”, this matter is so serious you should give a statement in the Assembly. Time is running out, when it runs out your intemperate remarks will be in front of every Senator in the Capitol building in Washington. Your own party will have to disown you.
Typo, the last sentence was updated to read:
For the sake of Wales, your own party will have to disown you.
